Whatever happens to you, ensure it does not affect your positive mindset because, it is only with a sound mindset that will push you to that success you are aiming at. That’s the reason the mental health club is here to help.
When you encounter issues, discuss and analyse them to come up with solutions that will not be hurting to you and others.
These were the words of the Human Resource Manager, Secure D-Future International Initiative, Mrs. Chinemere Iwuanyanwu at the inauguration of the Mental Health Club and handing over flag ceremony at Government Secondary School (GSS), on Friday in Kabusa, Abuja.
This is the seventh school the SDF has been to since it began its inauguration of mental health clubs in schools across the FCT, and with over 700 members already, the SDF aims to infuse into the minds of students on how to react to situations and circumstances around them.
Mrs. Iwuanyanwu said mental wellbeing must be a priority that supports opportunities where discussions will be had to fight cases that look to destabilise the mental strength of an individual.
“To have your mental wellbeing in check, you can come up with a forum where you can discuss with your peers or teachers or guardian counsellors, she told the students.
“Where you cannot discuss it with them, you can bring it to us when we come around to have a chat.
“Today, we are here to hand over the flag of SDF Mental Health Club to your executives to keep it flying because, we care about you and you should care about the community. This means you are a mental health advocate and an ambassador of SDF Mental Health Club”, she added.
Mrs. Chinedu Udoh, Matron of the school said to ensure the mental health of the students is stable, they must be enabled to feel free both in school and at home, not giving space for intimidation or to things that will affect their mental health, academics and social life with other students.
“I’m impressed seeing the students happy with this initiative because, we’ve had other clubs in the past but, no mental health club. I’m so grateful and I appreciate”, she stated.
Judith Nwankwo was made the president of the club, along with three other student executives.
