The Head, People and Culture, Crop2Cash, Goodness Eshet has said the need to address the fundamentals of hunger and poverty in Nigeria led to the launch of the National Hotline for Agriculture.
The National Hotline for Agriculture is tailored for smallholder farmers who have access to basic phones without internet access.
She said since inspection, crop cash purpose has been on turning out technological products and addressing the need of older farmers who have successfully benefitted over the last six years.
“Imagine the possibility where every farmer, no matter how remote their villages are, have access to expert agricultural advice at their tip! She exclaimed .
“Imagine the impacts of food security on the fabrics of our nation as a whole! These are some of the goals driving our purposes”, she added.
The Founder and CEO of Crop2Cash, Michael Ogundare revealed that the aim of the launch is to ensure the prosperity of farmers through use of technological solutions, adding that many farmers have been served through this drive.
“That is, at least, one farmer in each of the 774 local government areas in the country”, he said.
He further said as a result of the efforts made by Crop2Cash, farmers have seen their income grow by more than 70 percent, and with the current reality of climate change, Crop2Cash is working closing with its innovation partners to develop technology that makes access to climate inputs and drugs resistance seeds available and accessible to farmers.
Crop2Cash provides financial inclusion services for smallholder farmers with digital wallets and provide them with financial services and support such as access to inputs, mechanisation, weather advisory, and input loans.
