Akure, Nigeria, July 24 (Mediaage NG News) – No fewer than eight persons were confirmed dead after a fuel tanker exploded in i south-western Ondo state.
According to the Nigerian police, it happened while residents were scooping up spilt fuel from the tanker which was involved in a road accident on Sunday night.
“The tanker exploded on its own killing eight people, and injured many others who are currently being treated in the hospital,” the police spokeswoman said.
Lately, Nigerians have been struggling to pay for fuel after prices jumped, after newly sworn president, Ahmed Bola Tinubu announced the removal of petrol subsidy.
