Nigeria’s Minister of Environment has advocated for increased investment in sustainable land management practices and the need to empower local communities to participate in decision-making processes.
Balarabe Abbas Lawal revealed this during COP16, held last December, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He also emphasized the urgent need for collaborative efforts to combat desertification and land degradation, highlighting the impact of these issues on food security and climate change.
The conference brought together representatives from various countries to share best practices and develop strategies for achieving land degradation neutrality.
