Nigeria’s Former Minister of Defence, Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode (SAN), at the International Technology and Communications Expo (ITEC) 2024 said it is important that Nigeria should continue supporting the development of technology, as it is no longer a sector but, has become global.
Prince Kayode, while revealing that the Expo is not only critical to the technology sector but, the lives of all, he said everyone is involved in technology daily.
“There’s nobody here who doesn’t have it – the phone, different types and qualities. We are all involved at different levels. This is my office (pointing at his phone). It makes things to work and our source of livelihood”, he said on Friday in Abuja.
The former Minister of Labour and Productivity further emphasised on the importance of technology by stating that it offers business opportunities, especially to the youth because, it is the present day and future.
“Many things will be controlled by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the new hybrid that will go beyond AI. Technology offers the opportunity to be involved in new businesses.
“A lot of young persons are doing so well, leveraging on social media. The era of BSC Marketing, HND is gone. Leverage on social media to be involved in honest and legal businesses, and make a living. It is important that Nigeria should continue to support the development of technology”, the ex Minister of Culture and Tourism concluded.
Senator Ireti Kingigbe, represented by Hon. Joy Amaka Ohiomero said ITEC offers a cutting edge in technology and available in ICT, digital economy, production and power systems.
“There are lots of opportunities in technology, with Business to Business meetings, Business to Government meetings and lots more. Attendees, exhibitors, visitors are encouraged to make use of the opportunity created by ITEC, open your minds and see what you can do from this Expo and push forward.
“I appreciate the organisers of this event, Afrinex West Africa Limited for a successful hosting, the government, facilitators, local and international authorities that in one way or the other helped to make this exhibition a success”, she concluded.
