Nigeria’s Environment Minister has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to the Great Green Wall initiative, which aims at restoring 100 million hectares of land by 2030.
Balarabe Abbas Lawal, at the ministerial segment of the Pan African Agency of the Great Green Wall (PAGGW), spoke of the importance of collaboration among African nations to address the challenges caused by climate change and land degradation.
Mr. Lawal also called for increased funding and support from international partners to ensure the success of the initiative.At the conclusion of the ministerial segment, participants reaffirmed their dedication to implementing the goals of the PAGGW and fostering a sustainable future for the region.
The Great Green Wall project is a flagship program of the African Union that seeks to transform millions of lives in the Sahel, by creating a mosaic of green and productive landscapes.
