ABUJA, Nigeria – Mediaage NG News – The Director of Defence, Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba on Thursday said Nigerian forces are still very much engaged in the fight against terrorists.

He said the army had recently killed 86 terrorists and arrested another 101.

Major General Buba also said that the army arrested 30 perpetrators of oil theft and rescued 21 kidnapped hostages.

While revealing this in Abuja during a press conference, he said the goal of the military in 2024 is to find and destroy terrorists’ hideouts.

Major General Buba further disclosed that the army is counting on Nigerians for more success and urged them to inform and assist military efforts. “The Nigerian forces would act on such tip-offs”, he said.

Nigeria’s insecurity crisis is multi-faceted. Militant groups as well as militia gangs, known locally as bandits, terrorize citizens .

The jihadist insurgency in the country’s northeast has lasted 14 years.

More than 40,000 have died and nearly two million displaced, as a result of insecurity in Nigeria.
