Partners for a Greener Future: ACReSAL and Nasarawa State Unite Against Climate Change

In a move to boost Nasarawa State’s resilience against climate change, the Agro-climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the state’s efforts in addressing pressing environmental issues.

During a recent courtesy visit, Abdulhamid Umar, National Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, congratulated Barr. Isaac Danladi, the newly appointed Commissioner for Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Nasarawa State, on his well-deserved appointment.

Umar took the opportunity to brief Danladi on ACReSAL’s objectives, institutional arrangements, highlighting its mission to combat land degradation and climate change across 19 states in Northern Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory.

As a key beneficiary of the ACReSAL initiative, Nasarawa State is poised to benefit significantly from the project’s community-driven and multi-sectoral approach.

Mr. Umar outlined the ACReSAL Project’s four interconnected components – *Dryland Management, Community Climate Resilience, institutional strengthening and project management and contingent emergency response which are designed to promote climate-resilient agriculture, sustainable land management, and improved livelihoods for rural communities*

He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the ministries of environment, agriculture and water resources and other sectors for project sustainability.

The NPC expressed optimism that the environmental landscape would benefit significantly from the effective leadership of Barr. Isaac Danladi.

Danladi, accompanied by Mr. Napoleon Gyobe Elias, Nasarawa State Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, commended the ACReSAL project’s commitment to supporting the state’s climate resilience efforts and commended ACReSAL for its remarkable achievements so far.

He echoed the Government’s readiness to act as a bridge between ACReSAL and vulnerable demographics in Nasarawa State, ensuring that all initiated projects are carried to a successful conclusion.
