Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu suffered a long illness last year. It prompted fans and other Nigerians to call for funds in taking care of his hospital bills. The Nollywood star underwent multiple surgeries and had a leg amputated, according to the family.

Onyeabuchi Okafo and Jasmine Okekeagwu are alleged to have taken “possession of the actor’s phone and hacked into the banking details”, before stealing 55m Naira. They were planning to escape to the UK, according to the police.

According to local media reports quoting the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), ₦50m has been recovered.

The duo has been released by a court in Lagos on a bail of ₦15m, while investigations continue.
