Abuja, August 08 (Mediaage NG News) – The Nigerian Senate led by its President, Godswill Akpabio late Monday evening announced the names of lawmakers to head Senate Committees as Chairmen, some of which include Committees on Aviation, Capital Markets and others.
This announcement was made after the confirmation of 45 ministerial nominees. Senator Akpabio first announced the composition and leadership of standing committees, urging lawmakers to approach the Senate Leader for their appointment letters.

The senate standing committees are as follows:
Senator Solomon Adeola, (APC -Ogun) to head the Committee on Appropriation, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (APGA-Abia) to head the Committee on Power, Senator Abdulaziz Yari (APC-Zamfara) to head the Committee on Water Resources and former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan to head the Committee on Defence.
According to The Pulse, Senate President, Akpabio also announced the following senators among others as chairmen of committees.They include the Aviation Committee, chaired by Senator Buhari Abdulfatai, Senate Committee on Capital Market, chaired by Senator Osita Izunaso, Ecology and Climatic Change to be chaired by Senator Seriake Dickson, and Senator Aminu Tambuwal named chairman of Senate Committee on Housing.
Others include Senator Adams Oshiomhole to head the Senate Committee on Interior, while Senate Committee on Public Accounts is to be Chaired by Senator Aliyu Wada.
The Senate Committee on Works has Senator Patric Ndubueze as its Chairman, Senate Committee on FERMA will be chaired by Senator Usain Babangida, while Senator Musa Sani will lead the Senate Committee on Finance.
Senate Committee on Agric Insurance and other Financial Institutions have Senator Abiru Adetokunbo as its Chairman, while Senator Abdulaziz Yar’adua was made Chairman of the INEC committee.
Senate Committee on Customs, Exercise and Tariff has Senator Isa Jubril as its Chairman, Senate Committee on Cooperation, Integration in Africa and NEPAD will be headed by Senator Yau‘ Shaibu.
Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism will be led by Senator Elisa Abboh, while the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs has Senator Victor Umeh as Chairman.
Labour Party’s Ireti Kingibe will be the Chairman of Senate Committee on Women Affairs. Senate Committee on Drugs and Narcotic will be led by Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, Senate Committee on Gas will be chaired by Senator Jaribe Agom, while the Senate Committee on Judiciary is expected to be led by Senator Mohammed Monguno.
