The Nigerian government has advised the public to show more affection and kindness to internally displaced persons and desist from a non – challant attitude towards them.
In a statement issued by the Director, Media & Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Patricia Deworitshe, the Coordinating Health Minister, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, represented by the Director of Special Project, Dr. Charles Nzelu, said the government is ready to provide access to free drugs and other health materials in accordance with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This was revealed during the distribution of drug and some essential health materials to IDP camps in Kuchigoro, Lifecamp and Durumi areas of Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
The Minister advised the authorities of the IDP Camps to take opportunity of the government’s efforts to use the drugs and other valuable health materials judiciously for the benefit of the displaced persons.
He gave assurances of the government’s continuous efforts in cre
ating an enabling environment for its citizenry through health care services.
In their separate responses, Mr. Luka Yathuma of Kuchigoro IDP Camp commended Federal Government for the initiative “at this Crucial time”. He maintained that more need to be done to curtail acute sufferings of the internally displaced persons.
Mrs. Liyatu Ayuba, Women Leader of Durumi IDP Camp appreciated the government and the Health and Social Welfare Ministry for coming to their aids, while promising to handle the materials appropriately.
The drugs & essential health materials, worth millions of Naira, were delivered respectively to each IDP Camp Coordinators.
