The Nigerian Minister, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has said women produce businesses that are socially responsible and impactful on the Nigerian economy.
She also said women as vital contributors to the growth of a nation are catalysts for innovation and sustainable development.
“It is time we recognize that empowering women entrepreneurs is not just a matter of equity; it is an economic imperative” Mahmoud said at the Abuja Business and Investment Summit, on Thursday in Abuja.
“From limited access to financing and mentorship to social and cultural constraints. The challenges are numerous”, she stated.
She said women face barriers to entrepreneurship, despite their potential. However, “most are breaking barriers, creating jobs, and driving economic growth.
“They are in technology, agriculture, manufacturing, and services—proving that their contributions are as diverse as they are impactful”, she enumerated.
The Group Head, Abuja Investments Company Limited, Maureen Tamuno, in her remarks, said things that hinder women from being successful must be put out through favorable policies for growth.
She said the 2-day summit is a foundation for actionable strategies that promote gender equity, drive inclusive growth and foster a business environment that can enable the success of both gender.
Tamuno called for collaboration and partnership as key to unlocking new opportunities and creating an investment landscape that embraces innovation, nurtures entrepreneurship, and delivers lasting impact for the communities.
