Osita Ngwu was on Friday, 3rd November 2023, received by the Ambassador of South Korea to Nigeria, H.E Kim Yong-chae, at the South Korea embassy. The distinguished Senator in His opening remarks stated the vast solid minerals in the country, but yet the sector contributes about 0.4% to Nigeria’s economy.

The lawmaker further laid emphasis on the illegal mining exploration of these solid minerals and said the Senate is reviewing the laws as he moved a motion on the floor of the house for a review. The chairman of the standing committee on solid minerals, Sen. Ngwu expressed the commitment of the committee to boost the solid mineral development sector and ensure sustainable investor’s friendly environment for foreign investors.

The Ambassador expressed his genuine interest in the bilateral relationship of both countries and sought the government to improve on both power and security in the country. He stated that South Korea is interested in manufacturing, technology, and human capital development to improve the economy. Mr. Kim sought to know the survey and operations of these solid minerals in the states of Nigeria.

He reiterated his commitment in the agricultural sector, specialising in farming, and said in the past South Korea has invested 2 billion dollars in Madagascar and the country is willing to invest its expertise on both manufacturing and technology in Nigeria.

The South Korean ambassador and Sen. Osita Ngwu in consonance, reaffirmed their commitment for a bilateral collab.oration of both countries in solid minerals development.
