UK Court Orders Ibori’s Lawyer to Pay 28bn

London, July 25 (Mediaage NG News) – A London court has ordered the lawyer, Bhadresh Gohil, of former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori to pay around 28b Naira ($36m, £28m) for helping him hide funds.

Gohil was convicted in 2010 of money laundering linked to his role in helping Mr. Ibori to hide money from his criminal activities when he was governor of oil rich Delta State.

Both men have already served prison sentences in the UK for money laundering.

Last Friday, Mr Ibori who now lives back in Nigeria was ordered to hand over $130m of stolen money. The London court said both men would face further prison sentences if they fail to pay.
